top drawer

A 10 shot, 10 word film

2024 //
“Top Drawer” is a 10-shot, 10-word film that focuses on the passing of time from the perspective of a child. The film begins with a young child running down the hall to retrieve birthday candles and place them on a cake. Time passes, depicted by the flash of a Polaroid camera and a shift from warm to cool tones. The flash-forward matches most shots from the flashback but features an older child, illustrating the passage of time. Instead of retrieving birthday candles, the older child gets a single tealight candle and places it on the mantelpiece next to a photo of her childhood dog. This imagery, accompanied by the words “Miss you buddy,” conveys to the audience that the dog has passed away.

This project was for the Cinematography Subject, which meant most aspects of the film was done by myself.
